Jan 13, 2001 Fell from a bungled off the lip onto new board first time in the water; 5" of crushed rail & a grapefruit sized hole on the bottom - in the repair shop next day...

Jan 20, 2001 (Stick back from repair a few days ago) First surf on repaired board, I end the session by tearing out a side fin after clipping
the back of a turtle while exiting the water at Laniakea

....surfed a borrowed board for a couple weeks, no "incidents"...

Feb 9-20, 2001, (Stick back from fin box repair Feb 8); Somehow had 3 more sessions without incident. Tuesday afternoon, as forecast, the
swell quickly jumped from overhead to 2.5xoh. Totally bummed when a disposable camera packed with a month worth of pics is forced from my pocket while I'm getting drilled against the bottom. Purposely stayed in the impact zone 15 minutes getting smacked around frantically looking for it. Fruitless.

Feb 21, 2001 Sweet, g r i n d i n g sandbar barrels on the east side, but I'm having a poor session. Looking for a last wave, stoked as I
