Looked at the cams this morn and it still looked small, so I loaded the Behemoth into the car for an after work surf. When I got there at 5:30, I was both delighted and dismayed to see some really fun looking waves out there. Plus...the freakin' tide was at a minus 4, and I had to haul that big fat bastard all the way out across the exposed reef.
About chest high plus, but nice form. The better waves were on the inside where I SHOULD have been sitting, had I the foresight to bring my short board, but I sat on the outside and waited for the inconsistent bigger sets. I was alone at first, then 3 others joined me, including one kid who was surfing a 9'0" with no fin and doing these spinners and making me feel really....really....old. Damn keeds!
Then I had to haul it BACK across the reef, this time in the dark. Suddenly the fun quotient was vastly outweighed by the massively irritated Haoleboy quotient.
Came home and stuffed the Behemoth back in its bag until the next 1 foot day.
Supposed to be coming up tomorrow! I'm out there!

NIce Rich! Now I'm on the injured list. Paddling that fat bastard of a board around caused my shoulder bursitis to act up, and all I could do today was watch other people get head high waves.
Oh the agony!

dss in town from 5-6pm...chest to head clean conditions...super crowded, and I saw one to many people get dropped in on including myself. Not looking forward to the summertime crowds but at least we are getting some fun surf

Yup, surfed town after work from about 430pm to dark..super crowded bowls but fun...paddled over to rockpile lefts and got a couple good ones too....kinda wimpy but oh well beautiful day!

Himis 10 to 12, Glassy when I pulled into the parking lot but straight onshore by the time I made it outside. Every wave I went for was too damn ugly and I wimped out. Inconsistent but there were a few big sets, I took each and every big set on the head. I did get a nice view looking straight up at Kirk and Fireman Brian getting some big ones. I went over the falls twice trying to duck waves.

met fabian aka photoslut extraordinaire at my fave spot since small keed days. drove up and instantly completely bummed to see it totally overridden, - over 20 people crammed into the lineup.... clowns, barns & semi pros complete with a couple huge cameras on shore and one photog swimming. never ever seen this many people here. almost drove away in disgust. but within the 30 minutes we were watching, the fabinator noticed more than 1/2 the crowd had come in. so I was coerced to paddle out. inconsistent sets were about 4'oh, but mostly a foot or two overhead. in any case it ended up being a 15 minute session for me .... nabbed a nice overhead wall but took off a bit deep - racing the lip to pull inside, little too late and got fully axed by the lip. crumpled my backup twinny on my first freakin wave


this is a massive crowd for this spot and it's only about half of what it was 30 minutes before this pic

see, I told you it was good. but was only me and two guys for a few hours this morning and bigger too!!

I got one sick barrel to remember for a long time.
